Srinagar, May 14: Security forces on Sunday busted a terrorist hideout after a brief exchange of fire with the terrorists in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
In encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in AnderwanSagam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Sunday morning.
The encounter started when a joint team of Police, army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists at AnderwanSagam hamlet of Kokernag.
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that those two terrorists were believed to be trapped in the area. Both managed to escape during initial exchange of firing and in a subsequent search, blankets and other stores were found in a “cave-like” hideout, the officer said.
“Eatables, tablets, gas stove and blankets, kitchen kits have been recovered. Investigation is going on and we are closing the operation near the encounter site. Searches for the terrorists will continue in the area,” he said.
The police officer said they are investigating the entire incident and further investigation is underway in the case.
