Srinagar, Mar 01: The schools in Kashmir valley reopened on Wednesday after remaining closed for three months for the winter break.
Dressed in uniform, the students were seen making their way to school amid rainy weather.
Sarim, a student, said, “I am excited that I will meet my friends again. I have missed my school very much. Our final examinations are also coming so we are excited that we will be promoted to a new class and will be having new teachers.
On the first day, the teachers welcomed the students and involved them in fun and extracurricular activities.
Rabiya, a teacher, said, “We have been preparing for the 1st day for the past few days. We have to make students comfortable and happy after coming back to school. The students feel fresh after leaving their homes and coming back to school.”
In view of the construction work going on in the city, the Education Department had fixed the timing of the schools falling within the city limits from 9am to 2pm.
To observe winter vacation, the schools upto class 5th were closed from December 1 to February 28. From classes 6th to 8th, the schools were closed from December 12 and from 9th to 12th standard, the schools were closed from December
