Srinagar, July 19: Peoples’ Conference (PC) chairman, SajadGani Lone Tuesday criticized the PDP chief over her remarks in RubiyaSayeed abduction case, in which banned JKLF chief Yasin Malik and other three are accused, saying, “In the spirit of reconciliation Mehbooba should have followed the footsteps of Priyanka Gandhi, who pardoned the killers of her father”.
He said those getting people identified and indicted have no moral right to talk about reconciliation and dialogue.
Lone, a separatist turned mainstream politician, was speaking to reporters on the side-lines of a function held in Srinagar here.
On the occasion Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, former Deputy Director Health along with several supporters joined the party.
Talking to reporters, Lone said Malik deserves a fair trial. “Despite disagreements, he should be given a fair trial. Justice cannot be delivered while addressing only one side of the story,” he told reporters.
To a question about identification of Malik and others by RubiyaSayeed in the special CBI Court Jammu, Lone said it is their decision, “But those getting people identified and indicted do not have the right to talk about reconciliation and dialogue.”
Giving Priyanka Gandhi’s example, Lone said the Congress leader even forgave the killers of her own father.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, soon after her sister identified Yasin Malik and others as her abductors, said “she did her duty as per the law.”
The former Deputy Director Health was welcomed into the party fold by SajadGani Lone and other senior leaders of the party.
While welcoming Dr.Chalkoo into the PC, Sajad Lone said the entry of professionals like Chalkoo in the party indicates the positive impact this party has made among the people of J&K.
“I wholeheartedly welcome Dr Sahib into the caravan of change. He has served in J&K’s health department at key positions and will hugely help the party especially in wake of insurmountable and tremendous challenges faced by the people of J&K. I am hopeful that the way the party is expanding, PC will emerge as a collective team to meet the challenges confronted by the people of Jammu & Kashmir”, Lone said.
Criticizing previous governments for considerably failing to realize the promises made to the people of Uri, Sajad said Uri has been totally ignored on the developmental front by the previous regimes.
“Peoples’ Conference will usher in a new era of economic and infrastructure development for this region and that the concerns of people of Uri would be addressed on priority if the party comes to power. We will make all efforts to develop Uri as tourist resorts to tap the tourist potential of this virgin valley and make Uri into a hub of tourism,” he added.
