Despite the long list of possible health benefits associated with fasting, it may not be right for everyone. Fasting is not recommended for people with eating disorders and those who are underweight; women who are pregnant or breastfeeding; those with end-stage liver disease or other chronic health conditions and people taking diabetes medications. If you suffer from diabetes or low blood sugar, fasting can lead to spikes and crashes in your blood sugar levels, which could be dangerous. Important also that the quality of food is not compromised, and a balanced and healthy diet regime is followed during the entire month. It is best to talk to your doctor if you have any underlying health conditions.
