RTC to establish charge station for e-buses in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 29: The Road Transport Corporation (RTC) is going to establish a charge station for e-buses in the city. The process would take about a month to complete as the technical process in this regard is under way, an official said on Sunday.

Habib-ullah, RTC General Manager while speaking to Rising Kashmir said the project was already in process however few hiccups in midway led to the delay in project. He however said one more month is likely needed to complete the project.

He said establishing of charging station for e-buses in city centre is a genuine demand which has a potential to improve the operations of e-buses in the city.

“Our e-buses have to reach Parimpora Bypass to get charged and during to and fro it takes much energy of these buses which could have been saved and to be used in commutation if the city will have a charging station,”Habib-ullah said.

Presently we have a charging station in Parimpora, Bemina Bypass and for that, we have to save energy by E-buses to reach there. This new charging station will help us in terms of energy, time and more areas that our drivers can connect to in future.

He said due to some reasons the work was put on hold but now it has been restarted and will be completed in a month. 

"With the help of this charging station we make our trips more productive”, he said.

The office said the new Charging Station will come up in Hotel Lala Rukh in the city centre after that so that we focus on more routes to entertain our services to the commuters.

The official also said that in the past, the Corporation was a major service provider in J&K however due to some reasons its services got somehow affected.

“Presently we have 20 e-buses and we are adding more in the month of October this year. Also RTC is going to procure Deluxe buses in July this year,” he added.
