RDD constructs soak, composite pits in Budgam

Budgam, Oct 11: The Rural development Department has provided individual soak pits and composite pits for the active MGNREGA job card holders in every block of the Budgam to ensure water bodies across the district remain free from pollution. 
Nazir Ahmad Khan, District Development Chairperson of Budgam told the Rising Kashmir that the  individual soak pits and composite pits have already provided to the active MGNREGA job cardholders in every block. 
"The construction work of these composite and soak pits has already been started by the MGNREGA job cardholders in their homes, in which most of the soak pits and composite pits have been already completed," Khan said 
He said that the soak pits will be used for the grey water that is generated from the washrooms and kitchens. The composite pits will only be used for kitchen waste purpose or biodegradable waste which can be turned into the shape of natural fertilizer, which people can also use for agriculture lands. 
"The community soak pits will also be constructed in various villages so that these water bodies remain free from pollution," He added.
He further said that the composite and soak pits will constructed in every villages of the Budgam district on priority basis.
