Eight-year-old budding cricketer, Mir Hayyan Parvaiz from Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla has created a storm on social media with his exquisite cricketing shots.

The budding cricketer who aims to represent Jammu and Kashmir Cricket team in the future is inspired by batting style of South African cricketer AB de Villiers’ and likes his backward sweep.

According to his family, Hayyan had inclination towards cricket at the age of 3 years. His parents noticed his love for the game when he was playing with a toy bat and after that, they decided to groom him.

The Palhallan town falls at a distance of 32 kilometers from the summer capital Srinagar and is known for its big playground in the entire Baramulla district locally called ‘Ghat Ground’ where players from north to south have enjoyed their games.

For four days a week, Hayyan travels to central Kashmir's Ganderbal district to get coaching at a cricket academy which is around 40 kilometers from his native place.

He is presently studying in class 3rd at Doon International School and spends most of his free time playing cricket. While watching him play cricket, lovers of the game can notice his batting style. The elegance with which he plays his favourite shot is pure treat to eyes.

While talking to Rising Kashmir, Aayan said he wants to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the national level and India at the international level in the future.

“I love playing cricket and my favourite shot is cover drive and straight drive,” he said.

Hayyan further revealed that his favorite player is South African cricketer AB de Villiers and likes his backward sweep, straight drive. “I also like the batting style of Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, and Jason Jonathan.”

“My highest score so far is 51 runs not out and I recently scored 40 runs at Ganderbal last Sunday. It is my dream to represent Jammu and Kashmir initially and then team India at the international level. Apart from cricket, I like playing Badminton,” he said.

The parents of Hayyan are working in the education department and stated that teachers are the best judges and it helped them to notice their child’s talent at his early stage.

Hayyan's travels with his father to Ganderbal four days a week, some 40 kilometers from his home for coaching and trail matches to nourish his batting skills.

"Even today, he plays shots like international players, and players like him are born once in 10 years. Hayyan is stronger on the front foot as compared to back foot and plays well all drives including cover drive, square drive, straight drive, weep shot, leg glance, inside out, etc," he said.

Wani said Hayyan has played 10-12 matches so far outside academy and has won 6 Man of the Matches. In the point system of academy he is standing on the second rank. Hayyan's has also won youngest cricketer award in the academy," he said.

Hayyan received ‘Emerging Player' award at Wular Premier League in Bandipora presented by International Cricketer Parvez Rasool.

Hayyan’s father Parvaiz Ahmad Mir told Rising Kashmir they started documenting Hayyan’s videos when he was just 3 years old as his playing style was different from other kids.

Mir said he was himself a cricketer but could not continue due to various reasons. “But now Hayyan has given us a ray of hope to fulfill my dream by representing India at the international level.”

“Almighty Allah has gifted Hayyan cricket talent and we will provide him support in every possible way. Last year during the Covid19 lockdown, he used the maximum time while practicing in net,” he said.

During the recent winter months, the family had sent Hayyan to Shubham Khajuria cricket academy & training institute in Jammu while proper coaching is provided to aspiring cricketers below 10 years.
