Srinagar, Mar 08: Scores of fans of the Real Kashmir FC, disappointed with the decision of AIFF disciplinary committee to suspend Captain Mason Robertson and Head Coach David Robertson for four matches and fine them with Rs. 2 lac each for allegedly abusing the referee in an I-League match at Kolkata, held a peaceful protest at the Press Colony and demanded revocation of the punishment on Monday.

The protestors were holding placards which read slogans like “Revoke ban on David Robertson and Mason Robertson,” “We want justice for David Robertson and Mason Robertson,” “Lift ban on David Robertson and Mason Robertson.”

The protestors termed the punishment imposed by AIFF as “disappointing and unfortunate” for RKFC, especially at a time when the team is standing at number four on the points table.

The protestors while talking to Rising Kashmir said that the allegations on the coach and captain were “totally baseless,” and demanded immediate revocation of the suspension.

“The ban was imposed on our coach and player at a moment when we are among the main contenders for the title. We demand immediate lifting of the ban on them,” the protestors said, questioning that when the alleged altercation had taken place four matches ago, then why was the disciplinary committee meting out punishment now. They termed the punishment “sheer injustice” on part of the AIFF.
