Srinagar, June 08: After the Chief Engineer R&B Rafiq Ahmed Rafiq had said that the stretch from Rambagh to Jahangir Chowk will be blacktopped within a week’s time, the R&B authorities on Tuesday confirmed repairs on the flyover.
As per the ground reports reviewed by the Rising Kashmir, the flyover stretches from Rambagh to Jahangir, the potholes were blacktopped and surfaced by the R&B authorities.
The development in the shape of repairs has come as a huge respite to commuters travelling through the flyover tubes.
“I am happy to see the repair work done on the flyover, otherwise we had to almost zero our speed to save the vehicles. But there are other places in the city which need blacktop surfacing,” said a commuter.
Pertinent to mention that Rising Kashmir on June 08 published a story mentioning about the potholes on flyover stretch from Rambagh to Jahangir Chowk to which Chief Engineer R&B Rafiq Ahmed Rafiq had said that the stretch will be black top surfaced within a week’s time.
“The areas which have pot holes or have de-surfaced on both the flyover tubes will be surfaced and black topped in stretches, and the work on the same will be started within this week,” Er. Rafiq A Rafia had said.
Pertinent to mention that the project was executed by Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA) with Simplex Infra Limited as project contractors and the ambitious Rs 350 crore Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover missed several deadlines since the work began on it in the year 2013.
The construction work of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded flyover began in 2013 and was aimed to reduce the traffic congestion in Srinagar city Centre and provide quick access to International Airport.
