Srinagar, Apr 09: The North Railways has pitched for joint synergy of various departments in order to ensure hassle free developments across the railways in Kashmir valley, officials said.
Chief Area Manager (CAM) Kashmir, Saqib Yousuf Yatoo (IRTS) told Rising Kashmir that north railways is organising various seminars to inform various government departments in Union Territory administration in order to develop a sense of coordination among them.
“Since railway is a relatively new department in Kashmir and it is important to have a multi departmental approach, so that we can focus more effectively on developmental works in future,” he said.
CAM, Saqib said on Saturday, a seminar was held at Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Budgam where officials of various departments were informed about proper procedure of railways before conducting any work.
He said these sessions are aimed to streamline various processes such as crossing of transmission lines along tracks, irrigation facilities, or construction of roads.
“Most of the local government department officials have no idea about the entire process. We are trying to make them aware so that there will be good coordination among them,” he said.
CAM, Saqib said experts from north railways are delivering their lectures during these programs. We are getting good support from the UT Administration in this process, he said.
“Earlier we were facing many issues in the region, as many departments would work independently on any railway track without their consent. So, it was the need of the hour to carry such programs to ensure proper execution of departmental approach”, he said.
Another official underscored the need and significance for enhanced synergy and convergence between the activities of various departments for tangible results.
“We are stressing the local administrative officers to work in close coordination with synergy and dedication with railways. They should follow the procedure, otherwise issues are being raised,” he said.
The train is finally chugging towards Kashmir, with 90 percent of the construction on the railway link connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country complete.
On March 25, Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw said Kashmir valley’s rail network will get connected with the rest of the country by January next year and special ‘Vande Bharat’ trains are being designed for the Union Territory.
“The work on the Chenab and Anji bridges and major tunnels is also going and there is good progress. By the grace of Almighty, the train will chug on this route in December this year or January next year,” he said.
