Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tournament:GDC Anantnag triumphs in close match

After winning the toss, GDC Tangmarg decided to bat first and managed to score 126 runs only in 25 overs. Tanvir scored unbeaten 37 runs and Saleem Reshi scored 24.

Srinagar, Mar 26: In the ongoing Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tournament, Government Degree College Anantnag defeated GDC Tangmarg in a closely fought encounter.

 After winning the toss, GDC Tangmarg decided to bat first and managed to score 126 runs only in 25 overs. Tanvir scored unbeaten 37 runs and Saleem Reshi scored 24.

For Anantnag College Faizan was the most successful bowler who took 3 wickets, while Owais and Ishfaq bagged two scalps each.

Chasing an easy target of 127 runs, Anantnag lost some early wickets and almost lost the plot, but Oman's 32 and Junaid's  22 runs at crucial junctures took them over the line by just one wicket.

For Tangmarg, Syed Sajad shined with the ball by taking  5 wickets and Saleem chipped in with 3 scalps. Syed Sajad of GDC Tangmarag was adjudged the man of the match.

In the next match of the tournament, host Islamia College will take on GDC Magam on Saturday, followed by Gandhi Memorial College versus GDC Handwara on Sunday.

The tournament is being organized by the Department of Physical Education, Islamia College of Science & Commerce, Srinagar in the memory of its ex-Principal late Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
