Srinagar, May 09: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday accorded Shaurya Chakra to Constable Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Kirti Chakra to Rohit Kumar, SG. Constable, J&K Police posthumously for showing exemplary courage while fighting terrorists in the Valley.
President Murmu presented Gallantry Awards at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-2023 that was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India, Prime Minister of India and Union Minister for Defence.
Constable Mudasir lost his life while fighting terrorists in an anti-terrorist operation in Baramulla. He displayed exceptional courage that led to the elimination of three terrorists and recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
Similarly, President Murmu honoured Kirti Chakra to Shri Rohit Kumar, SG. Constable, J&K Police (Posthumous). He had displayed relentless courage while saving the lives of civilians during an operation in Kulgam. Kumar had eliminated a terrorist and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

President Murmu accorded Shaurya Chakra to Rifleman Aurangzab, Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, 44th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles (Posthumous), Naik Jasbir Singh, 6th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (Posthumous), Gunner Jasbir Singh, Regiment of Artillery, 19th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles (Posthumous), Sepoy Karn Veer Singh, Rajput Regiment, 44th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles (Posthumous).
She also accorded Shaurya Chakra to Major Aditya Bhadauria, Kumaon Regiment, 50th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, Captain (now Major) Arun Kumar, Kumaon Regiment, 13th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, Lance Naik Vikas Choudhary, Jammu & Kashmir Rifles, 3rd Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, Captain (now Major) Yudhvir Singh, Mechanised Infantry, 9th Battalion,  Rashtriya Rifles, Captain (now Major) Yudhvir Singh, Mechanised Infantry, 9th Battalion,  Rashtriya Rifles.
President also honoured Shaurya Chakra to Squadron Leader Sandeep Kumar Jhajhria and Corporal (now Sergeant) Anand Singh, Major Abhishek Singh, Mechanised Infantry, 50th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles,Major Sandeep Kumar, Grenadiers, 55th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, Havildar (now Naib Subedar) Ghanshyam, Grenadiers, 55th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles and Lance Naik (now Naik) RaghVendra Singh, Mechanised Infantry, 9th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles for exceptional valour resulting in the elimination of a terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
President Murmu also accorded Kirti Chakra to Naik Jitendra Singh, Rajput Regiment, 44th Battalion,RR Major Shubhang, Dogra Regiment, 62nd Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, Naik Devendra Pratap Singh, Armoured Corps, 55th Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles, 
Special Forces
President Droupadi Murmu presents Shaurya Chakra to Captain (now Major) Rakesh T R, 9th Battalion, Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), Major Amit Dahiya, 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), Major Nitin Dhaania, 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) for displaying exceptional courage and indomitable fighting terrorists.
CRPF
President Droupadi Murmu presents Shaurya Chakra to Shri Satendra Singh, Assistant Commandant, 21 BN, CRPF. He displayed exceptional bravery and unwavering courage in the face of imminent threat and danger and eliminated a terrorist despite being badly injured during an operation in Srinagar, J&K.
She also honoured Shaurya Chakra to Amit Kumar, Assistant Commandant, CRPF. He displayed extreme valour and leadership skills in evacuating his injured teammates and eliminated terrorists during an operation in Srinagar, J&K.
Navy
President accorded Shaurya Chakra to Lieutenant Commander Mritunjay Kumar. He went beyond the call of his duty and displayed rare courage while leading the MARCOS team during an operation in J&K.
BSF
President Murmu presents Kirti Chakra to Sudip Sarkar, Constable/GD, 169 Batallion, BSF (Posthumous). During an operation along LoC in Kupwara, J&K, he eliminated a terrorist and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
