Polo View market to become first fully pedestrian market under Smart City project

Srinagar, Aug 04: The redevelopment of the polo view market under the smart city project is in process and the market will be the first fully pedestrian market in Srinagar city.
An official said that the underground ducts for electrical lines have been laid, the drainage and sewerage lines are done and the nearby taxi stand has been shifted.
Pertinently, the traffic movement will be shifted to the new alternate road which is in progress and also to another linkage area of the polo view market.
Pertinent to mention here, the work on the smart city project began in 2017 and was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) GoI in which 100 cities were selected for urban renewal and retrofitting.
The prestigious projects were launched under the Mission aimed at driving economic growth and improving the quality of life of people, both the capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir were selected by the union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
General Manager of planning and urban development, Anuj Kumar Malhotra said that the market will be only for pedestrians and the construction is underway.
He stated that the project will help more tourist flow or other people to visit this place.
He further said that it will help the traders as more people will visit the place and it will also help in improving business.
"Presently 65 projects are ongoing under smart city project," he further added.
