Pathania interacts with accident victims, demands FIR against PWD, Contractor agency

Udhampur, July 08: Ranbir Singh Pathania, former MLA Ramnagar and BJP spokesperson, called for registration of a case of criminal negligence against PWD as well as contractor agency for a blunder which has led to the accident at Keya (Ramnagar).
In a statement, Pathania said that the spot where the accident happened is part of the sanctioned DPR of Ramnagar to Chatrari (u/CRF). Although funds stand sanctioned for the project, almost five years back. As to why work has not been completed with potholes and heaps of debris/canker on the driving part of the road which acts as a lifeline for a population exceeding 50,000.
While expressing fullest solidarity with families of those whose precious lives which were lost yesterday, Pathania was vocal in seeking fixing of responsibility and taking to task the defaulting persons with whose criminal negligence, accidents are happening again and again thereby creating danger to the lives and limbs of the people.
Pathania took a spot survey of the accident-spot. Thereafter, he personally monitored the health condition of all the injured at district hospital Udhampur.
He asked for immediate implementation of the Road Safety Action Plan which has already been put into operation by the UT dispensation.
He said that mandatory steps and measures supposed to taken by the PWD, Traffic Police, local Police and local administration. He expressed least hesitation in saying that it is due to the lackluster response of the authorities that the said action plan still remains a dead letter as on date. He was further apprehensive of a spate of accidents in various far flung reaches of the area of Ramnagar where the condition of roads coupled with poor condition of vehicles and lesser professional expertise of the drivers and least monitoring by various departments/agencies has put the lives of daily commuters in a state of constant danger.
Pathania demanded strict action against the guilty who are negligent towards road safety measures including overload check as well as the mechanical check and professional check of the vehicles/drivers.
He also called for immediate opening of Ramnagar to BasantgarhRaod for vehicular traffic. It stands closed since the past one week.
He also welcome announcement of compensation by LG-led dispensation whereby Rs 5 lac relief has been announced for the dead and Rs 50,000-/- for the injured. He called for immediate disbursement of the same to the affected families.
He was thankful to 'Team Khalsa' for free langar for patients as well as attendants at DH Ramnagar.
