Udhampur, March 06: BJP Spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania Monday demanded promotion of tourism and horticulture in neglected and far flung areas of Udhampur district as these areas have been languishing for want of basic facilities.
He said this while conducting an extensive tour of the hilly and far flung areas of district Udhampur and addressing largely attended meetings, especially one at PWD Rest House, Ramnagar,
The quantum of road connectivity, provision of drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, infrastructure facilities, educational amenities, health facilities and facilities for livestock,  sports and recreational facilities are almost nil in these areas, he narrated.

“The ideological bottom-line of BJP as enunciated by Deen Dayal Upadhayay 'Last man in the last row' still remains to be fulfilled in these areas”.

He said that the horticulture potential of Kashmir province is almost saturated as various schemes and flagship programmes of the government have exploited it to almost full.
“Now it is time to promote and propagate the horticulture potential of the far flung areas of Jammu region especially Mongri, Panchari, Dudu, Basantgarh, G.S Banj, Chore Panjian, Latti areas of Udhampur ''.
BJP spokesperson called for promoting high density walnut, apple varieties in these areas.
Similarly, the vegetable production of Chenani also needs to be brought at par and marketing cooperatives need to be set up whereby the vegetable production could be increased and fetch farmers proper selling prices. Lack of marketing capacities is biggest drawback for vegetable production in Chenani, he added.
