On Mother’s Day and Every Other Day

We have to realise that pain and suffering that our mother has been through while giving us life

First slide

A medical doctor gets a blessed opportunity to realise a mother more practically. A doctor while reading the chapter of foetal circulation( the blood circulation of a foetus while in the womb of a mother), would have realised -- how a mother faces struggles in giving birth to him and it would have sometimes become very difficult for him to control tears.

During my maternity posting in Final Professional MBBS course, I practically realised by witnessing the suffering of a mother in labour room. The happiness of a mother following the delivery of her baby (whom she has been handling in her womb for almost 9 months) was over covering that suffering as if the mother had suffered none before giving birth to a new life. On witnessing this new life, a mother feels blessed and hopeful. She becomes overwhelmed with joy as if a new sun has risen to enlighten her.

Having said, we have to realise that pain and suffering that our mother has been through while giving us life. We have to realise that happiness and hope that our mother felt on giving life to us. It is our moral duty to be respectful, obedient, caring and loving to our mother. How much we play this role as a son/daughter -- as per Holy saying we believe that is one of the important measurements of success in this world and hereafter.

Sometime back during my interview on a television show, when I was asked about my mom I replied being highly emotional, "My mom is a house wife. My mom has NOT been to school ever, but I would say I am fortunate and lucky enough that my mom is a noble school in herself because she is blessed with the noble habit of doing Tilawat-e-Qur'an daily. While I used to be in sleep yet, I could listen to the voice of my mom during midnight doing Tilawat-e-Qur'an and praying for me with uncontrolled tears rolling from her eyes. Whatever I have achieved a little in my life so far, I think that is because of the blessings of Almighty Allah and those wet - eyed heart full prayers of my mom."

Almighty Allah (SWT) says in the noble teachings of Holy Qur’an, “Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but HIM, and that to be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age (while) with you, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood"

As per a prominent Hadith (of Sunan-an-Nasai), the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) said, "Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother" In another Hadith (of Sahih Bukhari, Muslim),a man came to the Prophet(SAW) and said, ‘O Messenger of Almighty Lord! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet(SAW) said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet(SAW) said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (SAW) said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet (SAW) said: Then your father.'

So,on Mother's Day and every other day(because everyday is mother’s day), let us realize that our mother is the ultimate blessing from Almighty Allah(SWT) and by her blessings, we grow, nurture and attain pinnacles of success in our life, and build a way in seeking Akhirah(the final goal).
