Low density Lipoprotein is the bad cholesterol . Elevated levels increase the risk of heart diseases and stroke.

BEST FOOD CHOICES FOR LOWERING THE RISK:

  1. Whole grains especially Oats and Barley
  2. Beans like Rajmah,Lobia,soy beans all contain soluble fibre
  3. Baigan & Bhindi , source of soluble fibre and low calorie
  4. Almonds, Walnuts,Peanuts contain heart protective compounds. 30gm / daily
  5. Monounsaturated oils like Peanut, Olive and Mustard oil in place of Ghee & butter
  6. Apples, Grapes, Guava, Strawberries contain pectin, which helps lower LDL.
  7. Fatty fish instead of mutton adds omega -3 which is beneficial for the heart.
  8. Psyllium husk- 2 teaspoons / daily for 3 months atleast
