NSS unit of Gandhi Memorial College organizes Awareness campaign on ‘Preservation of Wetlands’

Srinagar, May 08: The NSS Wing of Gandhi Memorial College in collaboration with the Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences on Monday organized an awareness campaign on the preservation of wetlands in Jammu and Kashmir.
In this connection a rally was taken from the college campus to BrariNambal, Baba Dem Srinagar. 20 NSS volunteers took part in the rally.
Students raised the slogans of ‘Save Water, Save Life’ and ‘Save Wetlands, Save Kashmir’ at BrariNambal, Baba Dem Srinagar.
The rally was flagged-off by NSS Coordinator, Professor Abida Manzoor.
In her speech, she exhorted upon the students to be the torch bearers of making society aware about the importance of preserving our wetlands.
Dr Ishrat also gave a brief speech on the importance of wetlands in the ecosystem of Jammu and Kashmir. Prof Tariq Ahmad and Prof Neelam also participated in the said awareness campaign.
