NRC Darbhanga, SKUAST-K sign MoU

Srinagar, Oct 07: A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 7th October 2025 between the ICAR–National Research Centre for Makhana (ICAR-NRCM), Darbhanga, Bihar, and the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), marking a significant milestone to boost aquatic crop production, processing and value addition.

According to a statement issued here, the MoU was formally signed by Dr.NachiketKotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-NRCM, and Prof.Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir, in the presence of DDG (Engg) ICAR New Dehli Dr SN Jha and various scientists of NRC for Makhana Darbhanga,  CIPHET Ludhiana and SKUAST Kashmir.

The MoU opens avenues for joint research in diverse disciplines related to aquatic crops of nutritional, medicinal, and economic importance such as makhana, lotus, and water chestnut as well as other areas aligned with the mandates of both institutions. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen the research ecosystem by facilitating the exchange of students, faculty, and scholars for academic training, research, and capacity-building initiatives.
