Baramulla, Oct 04: In a historic move fostering camaraderie through sports, the playgrounds of north Kashmir are set to witness the kickoff of the Pune Kashmir Friendship Trophy, a unique cricket league featuring Pune women's cricket team engaging in three cricket matches with local female cricketers.
Scheduled from October 6 to October 13, the tournament marks the first-ever ROI (Rest of India) women's tour to Kashmir.
The tournament is organized by the Aseem Foundation, in collaboration with the Indian Army, and is supported by HK Bounce Cricket Academy.
Sarang Gosavi, President of Aseem Foundation, said that the event aims to showcase the spirit of friendship, sportsmanship, and women's leadership through the game of cricket.
The friendly matches will be held under the theme, "The sound of leather on willow, the roar of the crowd, and the thrill of the game - it's cricket season, and It's time for Women To Lead."
Sarang said that this initiative will not only promote sports diplomacy but will also provide a platform for women cricketers from different regions to come together, share experiences, and strengthen bonds through the universal language of cricket.
As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the commencement of the Pune Kashmir Friendship Trophy, the event is expected to leave a lasting impact, contributing to the promotion of women's cricket and fostering unity through the love of the game.
