With 330 new cases, JK tally crosses 9000 mark

Srinagar reports 119 cases, Baramulla 82 in a day

 J&K Wednesday witnessed an upsurge in COVID-19 cases as 330 new cases were recorded including 271 in Kashmir and 56 from Jammu, bringing the total infection tally to 9261.
The new cases include 119 from Srinagar, 82 from Baramulla, Anantnag 26, Rajouri 23, Kupwara 18, Doda 14, Bandipora and Samba seven each, Budgam and Udhampur five each, Kulgam, Shopian, Ganderbal, and Reasi four each, Pulwama, Jammu and Ramban two each, and Kathua and Kishtwar one each.
Of these cases, 74 samples returned positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS, Srinagar, which tested 1460 samples during the past 24 hours.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the cases include 27 from Anantnag, 19 paramilitary CRPF men, Srinagar 15, Bandipora six, Baramulla three, and Pulwama, Kupwara and Ganderbal one each.
The COVID-19 testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina Wednesday tested 430 samples of which 51 returned positive.
These include 50 from Srinagar and one from Shopian.
The coronavirus-dedicated hospital has so far admitted 691 positive patients of which 582 have been discharged while 103 are undergoing treatment.
The hospital has also conducted 31 lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) surgeries and 21 normal deliveries of pregnant women who tested positive for COVID-19.
The government said of the total 4,21,571 test results available, 4,12,310 returned negative and 9261 positive, which include 3545 active positive cases while 5567 have recovered and been discharged including 168 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 3,04,585 persons had been put under observation including 39,156 in home quarantine, 3545 in hospital isolation and 45 in hospital quarantine while 46,106 people are under home surveillance and 2,15,584 persons have completed their surveillance period.
So far, Kashmir has reported 7319 cases while Jammu division has reported 1942 cases.
In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 1396 cases followed by Baramulla with 1176, Kulgam 928, Shopian 866, Anantnag 755, Kupwara 643, Pulwama 590, Budgam 504, Bandipora 323, and Ganderbal 138.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 417 cases followed by Udhampur with 298, Kathua 261, Ramban 243, Samba 208, Poonch 132, Rajouri 171, Doda 120, Reasi 52, and Kishtwar 40.
J&K has so far reported 149 deaths to coronavirus pandemic of which 135 have been reported from Kashmir division.
