60 CRPF men among 228 new cases in Kashmir labs
Jammu Kashmir Tuesday recorded 260 COVID-19 cases that include 228 from Kashmir and 32 from Jammu, taking the total infection tally to 7497 officials said.
Tuesday’s cases include 64 from Kulgam, Srinagar 46, Baramulla 44, Shopian and Budgam 19 each, Anantnag 17, Pulwama 14, Jammu 12, Udhampur seven, Ramban and Kathua five each, Bandipora three, Rajouri two, Kupwara, Ganderbal, and Samba one each.
The cases also include 22 travellers.
Of these cases, 145 samples returned positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS Srinagar, which tested 2278 samples during the past 24 hours.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the cases include 60 paramilitary CRPF men, 19 from Shopian, Anantnag 18, Srinagar 17, Pulwama 13, Baramulla seven, Kulgam four, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora two each, and Kupwara one.
The COVID-19 testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina Tuesday tested 501 samples of which 36 cases returned positive.
The cases include 20 from Srinagar and 16 from Budgam.
The coronavirus dedicated hospital has so far admitted 612 positive patients of which 483 have been discharged while 124 are undergoing treatment.
Health officials have attributed the rise in positive cases to random sampling of people across villages which is being done throughout Kashmir.
The government said of the total 3,65,058 test results available, 3,57,561 returned negative and 7497 positive, which include 2674 active positive cases while 4722 have recovered and been discharged including 137 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 2,81,581 persons had been put under observation including 39,866 in home quarantine, 2674 in hospital isolation, and 36 in hospital quarantine while 46,912 people are under home surveillance and 1,91,992 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 938 cases followed by Baramulla with 860, Kulgam 831, Shopian 768, Anantnag 666, Kupwara 537, Pulwama 484, Budgam 416, Bandipora 294, and Ganderbal 92.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 348 cases followed by Udhampur with 279, Ramban 222, Kathua 232, Samba 145, Poonch 123, Rajouri 113, Doda 77, Reasi 45, and Kishtwar 27.
J&K has so far reported 101 deaths to coronavirus pandemic of which 89 have been reported from Kashmir division.
