BJP State Incharge for All Cells, Varinderjit Singh,on Thursday said that Urban Local Body elections strengthen democracy at the grass root level and provide administration at the very door steps of common masses.
In a statement, Singh said that holding of Urban local body elections in the state will enable the “decentralization of administrative setup in the region”.
“For effective development of the area, holding up of elections will certainly help as they strengthen democracy at the grass root level and provide administration at the very doorsteps of common masses.”
He also welcomed the initiative of Governor, Narinder Nath Vohra, in which the he has directed the Housing and Urban Development Department to initiate the process of holding elections to Municipal bodies in State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting.
“State BJP is ready to go for local body elections at any time and it is in strong favour of holding elections at the earliest possible opportunity.”
Deepak Gupta, State Convenor of Urban Local Body Cell also hailed the initiative of Governor for holding elections to the Municipal bodies and said that the “move will surely facilitate the process”.
“Local body elections will also reinforce the ongoing effort to attain sustainable peace in the state as the expectations of local population will be fulfilled through local reinforcement in the administrative processes.”
He claimed that the BJP has “continuously worked for strong booth level structure which will ensure its win in every future election”.
