In furtherance of its concerted efforts towards constructive engagement of youth and to further strengthen its bonds with locals of Tangmarg - Ziran, The Army organised a three day Camping and Trekking event for the youth of the area.
The batch of 33 youths was escorted in a special convoy towards the picturesque destination of Butapathri with a short halt at the popular & pious location of Nagin Pir Baba to offer their homage before proceeding for the camp. The participants on arrival at Butapathri were given first exposure to team work, bonding and discipline for the task ahead. They were further guided through a lecture and demonstration on tent pitching and knots and hitches by qualified Army instructors. Their Skill and competitive spirit was put to test while they battled it out to win the tent pitching competition.
The youth enjoyed night camping at Butapathri followed by a relaxing cultural program next to the camp fire and relished the outdoor cooking by select few. Next morning began early with trekking being organized to Zardbal Top at a height of 12,504 ft. Element of adventure was noticeable amongst the youth as they progressed along the challenging route in the backdrop of the Majestic Apharwat and the pristine beauty of Gulmarg. Every bit of the day was packed with fun and the trekkers were closely guided all along on the fine nuances of such expeditions. The batch returned to Butapathri in the evening with life time memories and tremendous goodwill for the Army.
Locals and parents who came to pick up their young ones were highly appreciative of efforts of the Army and its genuine concern for youth of the valley. On their part, the youth belonging to volatile areas of Tangmarg, Nambalnar, Chandoosa, Fakir Bagh and Katiawali have gone back with a strong resolve to pursue path of progress, peace & prosperity. Many others now wait for their turn and will be engaged through more such events in near future.
