'Decision taken in view of calls for protest to prevent law and order and flouting of distancing guidelines which are key to COVID-19 containment'
The government has ordered imposition of strict restrictions on public activities and movement beginning midnight tonight in all districts across Kashmir division.
The restrictions have been ordered in view of calls for protests some outfits have given and are aimed at preventing a law and order situation and loss of life that it might result in.
The imposition of strict restrictions are also aimed at ensuring that distancing guidelines being key to containing spread of COVID-19 are not flouted and are adhered to in view of the seriousness of the situation surrounding the disease in the division where a sharp spike in affected cases has been witnessed in the last one month or so.
The government has ordered that the restrictions will remain imposed for 48 hours during which no kind of public activity or movement will be allowed.
It has urged the general public to ensure strict adherence to the order and ordered maximum punishments and penalties for violations of the order.
