International fast food restaurant brands like KFC and Pizza Hut have been opened at Srinagar airport to cater to the tastes of the travellers. The outlets have been opened on Wednesday.
Director Srinagar Airport Sharadh Kumar said that the outlets started on Wednesday which will give international like experience to the travellers at the airport.
“In Srinagar city we don’t have these outlets. It has now started at Srinagar airport which is a very positive sign,” he said.
He said the local travellers would buy food from these restaurants at Delhi airport which is now available to them at their own airport.
“Even tourists would buy all these food items from other airports while travelling to Srinagar. Now they can enjoy it here and also take away for their families. “
The locals who had set up the shops at Srinagar airport had to wind up as they could not afford franchise of such chains.
“The local shopkeepers had to vacate as their agreement expired. They were not vacated forcefully.”
President Travel Agents Association Kashmir (TAAK) Ashfaq Siddiq new variety has come up at Sriangar airport which is a welcome step.
“The opening up of these outlets won’t have much of the impact as far as tourism is concerned. These outlets are already at other airports and having these outlets here is not an exception,” said Ashfaq.
