Even after 45 days have gone by, Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has failed to avail medicines for parathyroid patients, leaving them in lurch.
At least 15 patients from different parts of Kashmir Thursday expressed resentment against the SKIMS authorities for failing to avail the required medicine, causing inconvenience to many patients.
Scores of patients said that that before undergoing medical test for parathyroid, the patients have to take a medicine called Nimbiscan, which is not available in the market.
Syed Misra, a patient from Bemina told Rising Kashmir that due to non availability of the drug they are facing tremendous problems.
“I appeal the director SKIMS to avail the medicine as soon as possible so that patients can heave a sigh of relief,” Misra said adding that they have been waiting since past 40 days.
Another patient said that the hospital authorities earlier told them that there is problem in the plant where the drug is manufactured.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan, told Rising Kashmir that the medicine is very radioactive and comes from outside of valley and is not available in live stock presently.
“We have to order medicine on the basis of requirements in the valley,” Jan added.
