State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sought a detailed report from Deputy Commissioner Shopian and Superintendent of Police in connection with the killing of girl Saima Wani in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
SHRC chairperson Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki while hearing the case asked DC Shopian and SP Shopian to file a detailed report regarding the killing of Saima Wani within a month.
Samia, who was injured in forces firing on January 24, succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura on February 10.
Her brother Sameer Wani, who was a Hizb militant, was killed in an encounter with forces in Shopian on January 24.
Human rights activist and chairman of International Forum of Justice (IFJ) Ahsan Untoo had filed a petition in SHRC on Saima’s killing.
In the petition, Untoo had prayed that SHRC should order an inquiry into the killing of the girl.
