The administration is mulling to utilize several government schools located at high altitude as a temporary relief centers during floods in Kashmir valley.
School Education Department of Kashmir division Tuesday in this regard sought list of all government schools located at high raised area with enough capacity from all Chief Educational Officers (CEO’s) of Kashmir region.
Officer on special duty at Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) also issued an order with regard to the matter.
As per the order, the directive to fetch information from CEO’s of Kashmir division was sought by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
“I am also directed to request you to furnish the list of schools and institutions located at high raised area with enough capacity to be used for temporary relief centers during floods,” reads the order issued by officer on special duty.
According to the order, the information sought from the CEO’s include name of the school or institution, zone, exact location, phone number and email, number of rooms, availability of water and electricity facility.
Besides schools located at high altitudes, the respondents have been also directed to furnish the information of all schools including the type of vulnerability, name of Head of Institutions (HoI’s) and their contact numbers.
CEO’s have been directed to consider the matter as most urgent and were asked to furnish the report by May 2020 positively so that the same is forwarded to the concerned quarters in time.
