PDP leader Rouf Bhat on Friday appealed the union government for releasing all the political leaders including former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, Nayeem Akther, Sartaj Madni, Ali Mohammed Sagar, Shah Faesal, Er Rashid and renowned advocate Mia Qayoom.
In a statement, he said that the former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is in jail on the eve of Eid which is mockery with Democracy and government of India is taking the political decisions in regard to Jammu and Kashmir when the leaders are in jail he said that the order of domicile law was aimed at effecting a demographic change of J&K and rejected the amended domicile law and the recent order.
“Even a pandemic is no deterrent for the Government of India to continue with its disempowerment project for J&K. Orders like the one on domicile certificates don’t settle anything, neither do they cover up the August 5 fraud. The demographic change and disenfranchisement will further complicate the J&K issue, which has claimed thousands of lives so far. This will be resisted through all democratic and peaceful means,” Bhat said.
He further said that the government is using money and muscle power to suppress the Kashmiri political leaders and social activists on the time when the whole world is suffering from coronavirus crisis.
He appealed the government to release all political detainees before Eid to prove the secular and democratic character of the country. KNS
