In the month of Ramadhan, Press Colony Srinagar is facing acute water shortage making media fraternity to face plethora of problems.
Accusing the PHE department of having failed to restore the water supply to Press Colony during the month of Ramadan, the media fraternity said it was highly irresponsible on part of the department including the Estates administration.
“If they were to snap the water supply for some period of time they should have informed us or made alternate arrangements. The entire colony is facing water shortage in this holy month of Ramadan. Water supply is highly irregular and it is very irritating,” said a reporter working for a local daily here.
Senior photojournalist Farooq Ahmad said, “It is a shame that in the holy month of Ramadhan, there is no sign of any improvement in the water supply even after 4 hours.”
Ahmad said the shortage of water supply compels journalists to move to other places for proper abolition to offer prayers.
Junaid Ahmad, a senior journalist said, “Authorities always make promises to solve the scarcity of water. We are facing this irregularity in water supply since decades here in Press Enclave but this time it is totally irritating. PHE department should make adequate water supply available on priority,” he said.
An official of PHE department said, “We are ensuring round the clock water supply during the month of Ramadan. There are no such complaints in our notice till date,” he said adding that the Department of Estates has failed to pay the bill of water supply from the day one.
