The COVID-19 positive cases Friday crossed the 8000 mark in Jammu Kashmir as 170 new cases tested positive including 120 from Kashmir valley.
Friday’s cases include 41 from Srinagar, 24 from Kupwara, Baramulla and Anantnag 21 each, Jammu 13, Kathua 10, Ganderbal eight, Samba six, Kulgam and Budgam five each, Ramban, Rajouri and Doda three each, Bandipora, Udhampur and Kishtwar two each, and Shopian one.
Of these cases, 54 samples returned positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS Srinagar, which tested 897 samples during the past 24 hours.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the cases include 22 from Anantnag, Kupwara 12, Srinagar 11, Bandipora four, four paramilitary CRPF men, and Ganderbal one.
Similarly, the COVID-19 testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina Friday tested 536 samples of which 11 cases, all from Srinagar, returned positive.
The coronavirus dedicated hospital has so far admitted 640 positive patients of which 529 have been discharged while 106 are undergoing treatment.
The hospital has conducted 28 lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) surgeries and 19 normal deliveries of women who had tested positive for the coronavirus.
The government said of the total 3,85,501 test results available, 3,77,482 returned negative and 8019 positive which include 2825 active positive cases while 5075 have recovered and been discharged including 101 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 2,90,760 persons had been put under observation including 40,929 in home quarantine, 2825 in hospital isolation, and 39 in hospital quarantine while 44,736 people are under home surveillance and 2,02,112 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 1062 cases followed by Baramulla with 949, Kulgam 851, Shopian 802, Anantnag 713, Kupwara 577, Pulwama 518, Budgam 439, Bandipora 298, and Ganderbal 118.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 376 cases followed by Udhampur with 286, Kathua 242, Ramban 226, Samba 158, Poonch 123, Rajouri 118, Doda 89, Reasi 45, and Kishtwar 29.
Jammu Kashmir has so far reported 119 deaths to coronavirus pandemic of which 105 have been reported from Kashmir division.
