BJP asks MLA to appear before disciplinary committee to explain position
Facing criticism after objectionable photos of MLA RS Pura, Dr Gagan Bhagat, flooded the social media last month, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has asked the legislator to appear before the disciplinary committee of party on Thursday to explain his position on the issue.
BJP MLA RS Pura attracted criticism from social media users when his objectionable photos with a young girl were circulated across many platforms.
The netizens also criticized the BJP for allegedly maintaining silence over the issue.
After public hue and cry, BJP constituted a committee led by BJP’s spokesperson Sunil Sethi with two members including Varinder Jeet Singh and ND Rajwal.
“Gagan has been asked to appear before the committee to explain his position with proofs,” a member of the disciplinary committee told Rising Kashmir.
He said that “We will not take any side and will submit report of the committee to the State President Ravinder Raina within days.”
When asked if Gagan Bhagat does not appear before the committee what action will be taken, the member said, “Party will take appropriate action accordingly in case he fails to appear.”
Sources in BJP told Rising Kashmir that the BJP has decided to take strict action against the MLA if they found him involved in any such activities. “ Such actions harm the image of party in public.”
It may be mentioned here that the intimate pictures of MLA went viral on social media with a girl who is studying outside the State and as per her father, went missing.
Father of the girl had claimed before media that she had gone missing and accused Bhagat for her disappearance.
The MLA appeared before the media and refuted the claims of the father of the girl, while the girl also appeared personally before media and claimed she had not been kidnapped. In next few days, the social media was flooded with their intimate pictures which brought embarrassment to the party and after which the BJP constituted a committee headed by Sunil Sethi.
