NIFF hails Sports Council for raising ‘invaluable’ infrastructure for athletes

National and International Footballers Forum of Jammu Kashmir (NIFF-JK) which comprise players, coaches and officials associated with the game of football of international repute visited many stadiums and playfields in Srinagar which is being upgraded and maintained by Sports Council.
A statement of NIFF-JK issued here said that though there are many pendencies in ongoing work at Bakhshi Stadium and newly-constructed Indoor Stadium at Polo Ground, it was apt to mention that the kind of infrastructure is being raised by Sports Council deserves all appreciations.
“Bakhshi Stadium, as per the upgradation plan, would become one of the finest venues in football having international standard facilities. TRC Turf Stadium where I-League matches were held caught peoples attention all over the country as it was totally a different venue for players to enjoy their game in cool weather conditions and snowy mountains. There are many pendencies like roofing at spectator stands, more washrooms for public and entry exit gates but the basic infrastructure in place has successfully cleared the criteria for hosting matches of such high caliber which are being telecasted live on leading sports channels. Indoor stadium at polo ground and lawn tennis court are still under construction and will definitely attract youth due to its prime location once these facilities are ready,” the statement said.
Chairman WC NIFF B A Malik hailed the Secretary Sports Council and it’s team for doing a great job in such filthy conditions where work is hampered every now and then. “We have always been at criticising end when it comes to issue related to sports against Council but one should also acknowledge the work being done for betterment. I have never seen Council paying any attention towards the renovation of SKISC (Indoor Stadium) which is a true asset, but seeing that work being carried out by Council gives a sense of relief with regard to this long pending demand of sportspersons. M A Stadium at Jammu is another example where we can see top level cricket matches anytime soon and we have learnt that Multi indoor Sports Complex are coming up in every district. We are very confident once these projects are done and all pendency works are being completed J&K would become one the best place in terms of having sports infrastructure in place which will eventually pave way to produce many athletes of national and international repute said Malik,” he said. “We congratulate Advisor Sports Farooq Ahmed Khan for putting efforts in making these projects completed and at the same time we appeal to authorities to make all pending works done within due course of time especially at Gindun Raj Bagh Swiming Pool.”
The NIFF delegation who visited these facilities comprised B A Malik, Abdul Hamid Banday, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Ishfaq Ahmed, Nazir Andrabi, Hilal Rasool, Sajid Dar, and Imtiaz Ahmed among other members of NIFF.
