Mushroom growers get technical, financial support: PCM

Continuing week long programme to visit mushroom units set up across the Kashmir valley, Project Coordinator Mushroom Subash Chandra Panotra along with Senior Scientist Mushrooms and Mushroom Specialist Lalmandi visited Budgam, Anantnag and Kulgam districts to inspect the Mushroom units.
While interacting with the growers, PCM said that department is taking all initiatives to provide technical and financial support to growers to increase mushroom production. He instructed the officers engaged with the scheme to organize awareness programmes for growers and capacity building workshops for field functionaries to upgrade their skill & knowledge of mushroom cultivation.
He stressed for setting up cluster villages for mushroom in every district so that facilities like training, raw material, equipments and market facilities are made available to the growers at their door step.
Panotra said that mushroom cultivation is a cottage industry which can be taken up as part time enterprise by all sections of society and can help generate additional income of the growers.
