As traditional shopping habits are being fractured across the world amid ongoing Coronavirus threat, a young bunch of boys from Srinagar city have come up with Kashmiris own online home shopping app - Saharmall.
An android-based digital application, Saharmall provides people with an option to order essential items and get home-delivered. Just a few months after its launch, the app is turning out to be household name as more than 4000 consumers have associated themselves with it.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, one of the founders of the app, said that the concept was to
to ensure delivery of products at consumers' doorstep.
Apart from giving consumers option to buy their products online, Saharmall has also tied up with various well-known bakery, grocery shops in the city.
"The idea was to provide the customers with all options at their fingertips. During Eid, we had a collaboration with a Hattrick, so people could directly order the bakery online, without taking the risk of venturing out from their homes in the ongoing COVID virus," the founder said.
The app has a separate slot, seller.saharmall.com, where any shop owner can register themselves and sell their products.
"This concept is the first of its kind. We are not only giving easy options to consumers to buy products, but small shops can also avail the service to sell their products," the founder said.
The app is optimized for 2G Network and works smoothly on 2G. The app currently has more than 1500 products and various brands in its catalog that includes grocery and gourmet foods, beauty products, health, and personal care, fast food and baby care products.
In case of suspension of internet services Saharmall has a dedicated call center which can handle multiple calls simultaneous so that customers call for essentials need not to wait in a cue in case of any internet issue.
After the successful launch in the city, the Saharmall offers same-day delivery and also gives an option to customers to choose their own delivery slot which can provide much relief to them.
Saharmall is available on google play store. It also has dedicated chat support on WhatsApp where customers can discuss their problems or can request new items that might not be available on the app.
"As compared to market rates we provide up to 30 percent discount on all the products. And we also have the option where a customer can inform us about a product which is out of stock, so that we can make it available at the earliest for them," the founder said.
The app is also offering cash on delivery services to the persons who don’t want to pay online.
"We currently have eight delivery boys who cover almost all the areas of the Srinagar. Moreover, we don't charge anything extra on home delivery if a consumer shops up to Rs 300. It is the lowest in entire India," the founder said.
“Currently, Home delivery will be available for pin codes in Srinagar, but it shall be extended to whole Kashmir division in the coming days,” one of the owners said.
