JAC of Engineering Graduates Association hold meet, demand regularization, implementation of SRO-42

The Joint Action Committee of Engineering Graduates Associations held a virtual meeting and demanded issuance of SRO for the Assured Career Progression Scheme and regularization of all in-charge promotions and implementation of SRO 42 of 2011.

In a statement, JAC said that all the constituent associations of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of various engineering graduates’ associations’ civil, mechanical and electrical wings held a virtual meeting on 13.09.2020 under the Chairmanship of Er. Firdous Ahad Bhat (President, JK MEGA) and discussed threadbare the casual approach of the government in resolving the genuine and legitimate issues of the engineers.

The JAC, though welcomed the announcement of the Principal Secretary, Education department regarding moving a proposal for seeking Assured Progressing Scheme for 2 lecturers, but also expressed surprise and displeasure over the government's silence and non-seriousness in issuing the SRO for the ACP Scheme already approved for the engineers way back in 2017. It is demoralizing the engineers, who are the backbone of the developmental machinery, that in spite of the Scheme being announced on the floor of the house and then be approved by the government of the day, the formal orders by virtue of an SRO are not being issued for last three years.

“The Chief Secretary, J&K is on record to accept in the press conference in the year November’2018 that there is a huge mess in the engineering services by virtue of adhocism and stagnation, but still under his administration, the adhocism continues and stagnation is not addressed by issuing the SRO for the approved ACP Scheme,” JAC said.

The JAC appealed Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha for an appointment so that the JAC could be able to appraise the JK LG about the broken promises made to the dismayed and demoralized engineers from time to time over the last three years.

The JAC appealed to the JK LG, Advisors of the concerned Engineering departments, Chief Secretary J&K and concerned Administrative Secretaries of all the engineering departments to resolve the decades' old demands of the engineers so that the engineers are not compelled to adopt a confrontational path which would be fatal to the momentum of the developmental activities and which is never a liked option for the engineering fraternity. “The engineering community is one of the very few departments in the UT of J&K, who is visible and delivering every service to the people in all conditions and under all circumstances,” they added.
