Indian and Pakistani troops on Tuesday traded heavy gunfire for the 3rd consecutive day along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
The firing was intense in the Krishna Ghati, Mankote and Dullan sectors of Poonch district, where, as per a senior police official, the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing by small arms from around 12:20 hours, which was retaliated by the Indian Army.
He said that the cross-border shelling between the two sides continued for a longer period and there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side, till the last reports came in.
PRO Defence Jammu said that today at about 1220 hours Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along LoC by firing with small arms in Poonch sector.
"Thereafter pakistani army again violated ceasefire second time in a day by shelling with mortars along LoC in Krishna Ghati, Mankote and Mendhar Sectors in District Poonch which was also retaliated strongly by own troops" he added.
