Greeting the students of the 10th standard for achieving excellent success in the exams especially Ghalib Afzal Guru son of Late Muhammad Afzal Guru, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani Monday announced that Hurriyat (G) will reward top 20 positions to encourage the students.
He praised the teachers of all the schools who showed best performance in the 10th class results including ‘Unique Public School’ in Dooru, Sopore.
In a statement, Geelani said the performance of our children in studies despite living in a “worst kind of conflict zone of the world” is very encouraging and praiseworthy.
Geelani said Kashmiri nation has produced many legendary personalities and scholars in the past and this soil is still fertile in that respect. “But the foreign control, political uncertainty and instability in this region has badly affected the children of Kashmir and the presence of forces has created psychological disorders among the people of the state,” he said.
He said that, “I personally feel extraordinary joy that despite adverse situation, our children who have been orphaned are excelling in the field of education.”
Expressing surprise over the greetings to Late Muhammad Afzal Guru’s son by those “people who have a direct hand in his father’s hanging,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said, “The out-of-power NC has now suddenly begun to issue pro-Kashmir statements and have started to show their concern for the interests and dignity of the Kashmiris.” Guru was hanged in 2013 for his alleged role in the Parliament attack.
He said, “This greedy pro-Indian party stands completely exposed before the Kashmiri people and they cannot deceive them anymore. They have a long history of betrayals and deceptions and they have always been power hungry people.”
