Health concerns

It is always encouraging and heartening to see if any organization comes forward and offers voluntary support to any society; it becomes more people friendly when the help come to treat any disease or correct some health related problem. Presently, scores of workshops are being held across the globe to make people aware about the health related problems. The aim of holding such workshops is to provide free medical consultation and treatment including surgery to the children. In today’s world where children are more inclined to junk food have been found with the diseases like cleft palate syndrome and cleft lips. It has been estimated that every year there are 2000 children who are born with cleft lip and cleft palate syndrome in Kashmir. To organize such type of workshops is a sign of a healthy society where beside monetary gains other considerations like human virtues and purpose of the medical profession come to fore. By holding such workshops they haven’t only removed a defect from a child but have given new life to him. Medical profession is about serving humanity and providing a selfless service to those who are suffering. These workshops should set a trend which other premier health institute should emulate. But holding workshops on health related problems should involve more people and also the programme would have been more successful if the media was involved and advance information circulated about the workshop. People would have been informed beforehand and got benefited from the services which are to be offered. More often we see that due to lack of information a large population is deprived of such opportunities. Apart from benefiting patients, it helps the profession by way of exchange of knowledge and technique. If a group of doctors is proficient in carrying out any surgical procedure, it would be better that they share the skill and experience with others. If latest techniques and up to date knowledge is kept track of patients can be treated in Kashmir saving them money and sparing them from discomfort.
