A gunfight erupted between government forces and militants at Ratnipora village in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.

A police official said that a joint team of Army's 50RR, 183 and 182 batallions of paramilitary CRPF and police laid a siege around Ratnipora after receiving credible inputs about presence of some militants in the area.

He said that a joint team of forces was fired up on by militants at around 3 :30 am.

"The forces retaliated triggering a gunfight," he said, adding that two Army men were injured and one among them was shifted to 92 base hospital Sringar.
