A one day food and safety awareness programme for bakery and manufacturing unit holders was conducted under food safety and standards act-2016 by the department of Food Safety J&K. Around 40 unit holders under the banner of All Bakers and Manufacturers Union-South Kashmir, attended the event in Anantnag.
The awareness programme under food Safety was conducted under the supervision of G Q Azhar, Assistant Commisioner Food Safety Anantnag.
The unit holders were provided a detailed awareness about the use of proper equipments and following the guidelines laid down by the government. The district officer asked the manufacturers to take proper care and caution of the hygiene besides choosing the feasible and appropriate location for manufacturing the food items. The manufacturers were also made aware about the use of disinfectants in their units and the proper layout about the construction of units in a proper and planned way.
The food business operators were also made aware about how proper drainage waste disposal facilities can help to plug loopholes to make food contamination free.
Besides the unit holders, the officials who participated in the event were Altaf Hussain Wani Food Safety Officer Anantnag, Shabir Ahmed Dar Food Safety Officer Achabal and Syed Nighat Hassan Food Safety Officer Larnoo and Shiraz Ahmed Mir Food Safety Officer.
“These programs will be conducted in future also and today’s event was a humble beginning in this regard. Besides we are mulling surprise market checks on different food outlets and the milk suppliers who enter the district from other places”, said G Q Azhar, Asst Commissioner Food Safety Anantnag.
