ELFA Int’l distributes 500 Eid kits among needy families in Srinagar, Kupwara

Srinagar, May 26: A Srinagar-based Non-governmental Organization ‘ELFA International’ has distributed 500 Eid/Rations packs among the needy & poor families in Srinagar & Kupwara on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The ration packets included at least one-month ration for a family of 5 members including sanitary napkins, while as Eid pack included bakery, chicken etc.
“In addition around 60 families were provided cash assistance directly deposited in their bank accounts,” they said.
ELFA Int in the first phase provided more than 30000 emergency equipment like PPEs, Face Masks, Hand Sanitizers, Hand Gloves etc to health & emergency centres in 6 districts of Kashmir to fight with the coronavirus outbreak in Kashmir.
CEO of the organization said that ELFA Int is committed to continuing the relief & emergency response in the Kashmir valley to fight the outbreak of coronavirus
“Our primary focus is on education, youth, and women empowerment. After the coronavirus outbreak, we shifted gears and launched an emergency response,” Mehran Khan, Chief Executive (CEO) of ELFA International said.
Khan said the NGO is now trying to reach out to the poor and needy who are unable to sustain during the lockdown. “There are many families who do not have money or means to procure supplies. Everybody has been hit by the lockdown. Some people can survive for a longer time, others can’t. Especially, rickshaw pullers and transporters are badly hit”, he said.
