In an unusual protest, an elderly man with a beating band appeared in Srinagar’s Press Enclave on Monday to protest against rampant corruption in Jammu and Kashmir.
Wearing a long white apron, black cap, Ali Mohammad Jan, 60 – a Kakapora Pulwama resident - held demonstration against rampant corruption in government offices.
Jan said due to corruption common people are suffering and thousands of youth are getting unemployed.
To end corruption all sections of society should raise voice against the malpractices as it can bring vibrant change in our society, he said.
As per Jan, who is a local religious teacher, said dozens of schemes including MGNREGA have failed due to corruption. The political workers and blue eyed bureaucrats are getting benefits while poor have been neglected, he said.
Appealing Lieutenant Governor led administration, he said it the moral duty of government to keep check so that poor do not suffer anymore.
