Continuing with the security review of jails after taking over as DGP Prisons, Dilbagh Singh Tuesday visited District Jail Ambphalla, Jammu and toured the premises along with DIG, SSP and other Jail officers and staff. He inspected all apartments to get familiarized with the working and the security needs. Besides focusing on overall health care of prisoners and to examine the cases of some of the old and infirm prisoners. Skill development programmes being run in the Jail which includes house wiring, embroidery, tailoring, weaving, candle making, carpentry, beauty salon were reviewed. The DGP Prisons also visited the display outlet of prison products named as “Sudhar Bikri Kendra” outside Jail and issued instructions for improvement in the products manufactured to compete with the market and make this outlet a quality name to be trusted upon by the public as a whole. He also emphasized to come up with new ideas for demand based products like shoe bags, laundry bags, Kashmir embroidery floor sheets and likewise items to instil positive feeling in the public towards the inmates and the Department in general. Further Superintendent Jail was asked to start preparation of products to be displayed in the forthcoming Public Police Mela.
During the meeting with the Officers at Ambphalla Jail, security concerns and precautionary measures and gadgetry needs and requirements for up gradation of security were discussed.
The DGP Prisons who remained in District Jail Ambphalla till late evening showed his satisfaction on the overall functioning of the Jail. This was the second jail whose security review was taken by the DGP after Central Jail Kotbhalwal in less than three days of taking over as DGP Prisons.
