The concept of ‘freedom’ erroneously by the West through modern education has impaired the foundation of the family as an institution
With the enforcement of self-made laws and with the subscription to different futile ideologies, we have failed to save the dignity of our mothers and sisters. Every time we are impelled to read or hear about the tragic news in which one of our mother’s or sister’s dignity is assailed or after taking away her dignity, she is heinously assassinated. If human beings are so astute and armored with the honed materialistic perceptions and ideologies then why have they consistently failed to safeguard our mothers and sisters?
Somewhere the responsibility can also be attributed to the womenfolk who have ignored the religious injunctions and aping the western dressing. Before proceeding further, I would like to give a disclaimer, I am neither being a misogynist nor do I subscribe to male dominance.
Allah, the Most High says in Surah Al An’am Chapter 6 Verse 152, “Whenever you speak, speak justly even if a near relative is concerned.” Quran propels me to call a spade a spade. And the truth is that vice seeds sown into the minds of children in their childhood get sprouted out at a later stage when they are encompassed by a chronic ambiance. The more we jettison the Quran and the Prophetic (PBUH) way, the more miserable conditions will descend upon us.
Attraction between male and a female is something that is naturally embedded into their hearts. Allah says in Surah Rum Chapter 30 Verse 21, “And among His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought.”
The natural affinity which a male possesses for a female and female possesses for a male, it is a natural endowment. However, egregious enjoyment to gratify that affection is despised by Allah, the Highest and turns out to be counterproductive both at societal level and individual level.
In a society where women are disparaged, the future generations have always been at the receiving end. Allah says in Surah Al Anbya (The Prophets) Chapter 21 Verse 7, “If you don’t know, ask the people of knowledge.” So, we must take help of a book that can succor us contain crimes against women.
Implementation of every self-made ideology or laws of our society has failed in reducing the crimes against women. Amidst this harrowing circumstance which book possesses a precise and advantageous ways by implementing the precepts of which crimes against women could be contained? Only the book of Allah possesses a methodology which can help us assuage crimes against women.
Here are some suggestions that can succor us in assuaging crimes against women:
Upbringing of children
Right from the birth of a child if Islamic values are imbued into him/her, it will with-strain him/her from committing any heinous transgressions in future. Unfortunately, instillation of the concept of ‘freedom’ erroneously by the West through modern education has impaired the foundation of the family as an institution.
Allah says in Surah Tahrim Chapter 66 Verse 6, “O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is people and stones.” When we thoroughly penetrate this verse, we infer that Allah, the Highest addresses head of the family and ordains him to impose Islam oriented system at his abode.
When Islamic spirit is emphatically imbued into the minds of the children, despicable acts such as woman’s desecration, the children will not even come close to this devastating thinking. Satiating children with embellished materialistic outlooks have eroded their deference for women because modern education only teaches us how to make money and gratify children materially. But how we should behave with women can only be taught by the Quran and the Hadith.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says, “The best gift that parents can endow their children with is upbringing and education.” The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also taught us that, “We should treat women nicely.”
Segregation of Sexes
Islam doesn’t preclude a woman from working. However, working of women at places where men are working too has been ruled out by Islam. Allah, the Most High says in Surah Ali Imran (Family of Imran) Chapter 3 Verse 14, “Beautified for people is the love of that which they long-of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver…” In this verse Allah, the Most High indicates towards the things which are robustly resplendent in nature for men.
According to this verse women are the most attractive, among all other created things, to men. In order to preclude the immoral and unlawful proximity of two opposite sexes, command for their segregation has been given by the religion of Islam.
Women are not chickened out to confine themselves within the ambit of four walls, women are provided with the leeway to go out but they have to cover themselves as per the injunctions set by the Quran. Allah says in Surah An Nur Chapter 24 Verse 30, “Tell the believing men to reduce some of their vision and guard their private parts.” In the next verse, verse 31 Allah issues a command for women. Allah says, “And tell the believing women to reduce some of their vision and guard their private parts.” These two verses espouse the legalization of seclusion of sexes in public domain.
Women must follow Islamic dressing
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) says, “In the end time, women will be dressed but naked.” And fulfillment of this hadith can be apparently seen in the present world. Insofar as dressing for women is concerned Allah says in Surah Al Ahzab Chapter 33 Verse 59, “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves part of their outer garments. So that they will be recognized and not be abused.” The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) cursed the female who dresses like a male and the male who dresses like a female. Further elaboration on this point may irk many modern minds, keeping that into consideration I stop here. But a word to the wise is all it takes.
Seeing the events in the world, we all get worried about the safety of our mothers and sisters. If we really want the safety of women, we have to adopt a full-fledged Islamic way both at individual and societal levels because, it is Allah, the Highest who entails a people with good or bad conditions. And if we truly turn to Allah, He will streamline all our affairs otherwise all our endeavors will bring us no fruitful results come what may.
