COVID-19: Doctor, pregnant woman among 80 new cases in JK; tally 1569

'50% patients have recovered, active cases stand at 774'

 A doctor from Srinagar posted in Bandipora and a pregnant woman from Kulgam are among 59 fresh cases tested positive in Kashmir on Saturday while Jammu reported 21 cases, taking J&K’s infection tally to 1569.
The Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS, Srinagar Saturday tested 3500 samples of which 39 have returned positive.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said 35 of them are from Kupwara, two from Srinagar, and one each from Pampore and Baramulla.
Officials said 15 of the 39 fresh cases have travel history from states like Punjab, Uttarkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajastan.
At the SKIMS lab, Jan said 5422 samples are awaiting results.
At the microbiology lab of the Chest Disease (CD) Hospital Srinagar, 620 samples were tested during the past 24 hours of which 14 returned positive.
Nodal Officer for COVID-19 measures, GMC Srinagar, Dr M Salim Khan said four cases each are from Anantnag and Kulgam including a pregnant women, three from Pulwama and a doctor posted at Bandipora, a resident of Habak, Srinagar.
Khan said at the CD Hospital testing lab, 450 fresh sample have been collected on Saturday while 200 samples are under process.
The coronavirus testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital (MCH) Bemina has also tested 433 samples and all of these have returned negative.
The government said of the 1,240,74 test results available, 1,225,05 returned negative and 1569 positive which include 774 active positive cases.
Till date 774 patients have recovered and been discharged including 54 persons discharged during the past 24 hours, the government said.
It said 50 percent of patients had recovered so far in JK including 702 in Kashmir and 72 in Jammu.
The government said, so far, 1,30,197 persons had been put under observation including 32,056 in home quarantine, 774 in hospital isolation, and 74 in hospital quarantine while 26,686 people are under home surveillance and 70,586 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Anantnag has 272 cases, followed by Kulgam with 198, Srinagar 179, Kupwara 164, Bandipora 139, Baramulla 136, Shopian 127, Budgam 63, Ganderbal 27, and Pulwama 25.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 72 positive cases followed by Ramban with 44, Kathua 41, Udhampur 33, Samba 20, Rajouri 10, Kishtwar eight, Poonch six, Reasi four, and Doda one.
J&K has so far recorded 21 deaths to coronavirus of which 19 were reported from Kashmir.
