COVID-19: 9 more die in JK, toll 426

With 599 cases, cases rises to 22,955

Nine more persons died of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours taking the death toll in J&K to 426 while 559 new cases were reported on Wednesday, officials said.
As per the government, of the nine deaths, eight were reported from Kashmir which includes three from Srinagar, two each from Anantnag and Budgam, and one each from Bandipora and Jammu.
With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus has soared to 426 in J&K, which includes 395 from Kashmir and 31 from Jammu.
So far, Srinagar has reported 141 deaths, Baramulla 73, Budgam 33, Kulgam 29, Anantnag 28, Pulwama 24, Shopian 23, Kupwara 21, Bandipora 16, and Ganderbal seven.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 21 deaths, Doda and Rajouri two each, and Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Poonch one each.
On Wednesday, J&K witnessed 559 fresh coronavirus cases which includes 463 from Kashmir and 96 from Jammu, pushing the total infection tally to 22,955.
Today’s cases include 160 from Srinagar, 105 from Pulwama, Jammu 61, Bandipora 44, Budgam and Ganderbal 41 each, Baramulla 29, Kulgam 27, Udhampur 12, Kathua eight, Anantnag and Shopian seven each, Rajouri and Samba five each, Poonch three, and Kupwara and Kistwar two each.
The government said of the total 6,79,415 test results available, 6,56,460 returned negative and 22,955 positive which include 7285 active positive cases while 15,244 have recovered and been discharged including 388 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 3,79,311 persons had been put under observation including 43,206 in home quarantine, 7285 in isolation while 43,604 people are under home surveillance and 2,84,790 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 5590 cases followed by Baramulla with 1997, Pulwama 1733, Kulgam 1552, Shopian 1492, Anantnag 1417, Budgam 1386, Kupwara 1163, Bandipora 865, and Ganderbal 560.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1361 cases, Rajouri 746, Udhampur 593, Ramban 574, Kathua 559, Samba 462, Doda 299, Poonch 251, Reasi 198, and Kishtwar 157.
