Six more persons including three women died of COVID-19 in Kashmir during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll in J&K to 149, officials said.
A 65-year-old man from Baramulla died at SMHS Hospital late Tuesday.
His sample returned positive after his death.
Medical Superintendent of SMHS, Dr Nazir H Choudary said the deceased was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and was admitted on July 6 in a critical condition.
A 70-year-old woman from Shopian, who was suffering from community-acquired pneumonia, died of coronavirus at SMHS Hospital.
A 36-year-old woman from Nehru Park area of Srinagar died at SKIMS Srinagar due to cardiopulmonary arrest.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the deceased woman was a known case of hypertension and diabetes, and tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 2.
“She was admitted on June 28 after she complained of shortness in breath. A preliminary diagnosis of pneumothorax was made,” he said.
A 40-year-old person from Sopore area of Baramulla died at the Chest Disease Hospital after he tested positive for coronavirus.
“The man was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and had respiratory failure. He was on the ventilator support and died Wednesday morning,” Medical Superintendent CD Hospital, Dr Saleem Tak said.
A 70-year-old man from Batamaloo Srinagar died at the CD Hospital.
The sixth death was reported from central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
With six fresh casualties, the death toll due to coronavirus has soared to 149 in J&K including 135 from Kashmir and 14 from Jammu.
According to the government, Srinagar has witnessed 36 deaths, Baramulla 30, Kulgam 17, Shopian 14, Anantnag 12, Budgam 11, Jammu eight, Kupwara seven, Pulwama four, Bandipora three, Doda two, and Ganderbal, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, and Rajouri one each.
