Chairman J&K Hoteliers Club Mushtaq Ahmed Chaya today demanded electricity and water usage charges waiver for hoteliers.
Speaking to KNS, he said that the Tourism sector is already in distress from August 5 and pandemic has added additional woes to them.
" We have been under stress since August 5 of last year. We are striving for a major package for the revival of the tourism sector. But for time being electricity charges and water usage charges should be waived off . We are already struggling with our finances to keep the hotels in good shape.we have to pay for employees who take care of hotels when there is no work," he said.
He also said that he had called a meeting of hoteliers yesterday and some of the hoteliers whose hotels were used as Quarantine centers have yet to receive their payment from administration.
" They are also accused of harassment. We respect the administration to release payment of hoteliers at earliest."
Chaya said that no one from the Tourism department doesn't consult tourism players on the way out to be formed to come out from the pandemic and revive tourism. (KNS)
